Spring is finally in the air (at least until Tuesday). And while spring break is here we plan to use it and get out. You? We’ve already mentioned a few parks by Southpoint Mall (like this one, this one and this one) but not too much further down the road is Solite Park. This park was completely renovated in November 2012 so is becoming more and more popular. Plus it makes for a nice little stop during errands.
Solite Park doesn’t have much shade but it does have one nice, large structure for play. The play structure is geared towards older children, not toddlers, and is, of course, brand new.
In addition, the playground has bucket swings and regular swings, a small rock-climbing playgym, a seesaw, and 4 ride on animal rocker toys. The ground cover is mulch.
While this mom with a toddler doesn’t love that the playground is fairly close to the parking lot, there is a lot to enjoy about Solite. There is a smooth, paved trail that goes around the playground so bring bikes and other wheeled toys to do laps. Of course, Solite Park is also on the American Tobacco Trail so just make sure your little ones don’t take off on an epic trip. There is also a huge shaded pavilion with picnic tables right next to the playground. The area also has a lot of open space in general for play.
There is a functioning water fountain, some benches for parents to enjoy (in full sun), and restrooms.
